You need a data management plan!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of data management is to ensure that good scientific practice is followed. In addition, the purpose of the data management plan is to identify potential risks in advance (e.g. data protection, ownership) and to ensure that the research data is not compromised at any stage (e.g. data storage solutions used). This guide is directed to the Jamk personnel \u2013 students can get help to data management questions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.jamk.fi\/opinnaytetyo\/en\/project-plan\/data-management-plan\/\">Thesis Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamk is committed to promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jamk.fi\/en\/research-and-development\/open-science-and-research\">open science and research<\/a>, so opening of the data for further use should also be possible. Besides general commitments of open science and research, Jamk has a policy on <a href=\"https:\/\/help.jamk.fi\/aineistonhallinta\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/144\/2025\/07\/Jamk_linjaus-avoimista-aineistoista-mentelmista-infroista_eng.pdf\">open data, methods and infrastructures<\/a>. The starting point are the FAIR principles: make data <strong>findable<\/strong>, <strong>accessible<\/strong>, <strong>interoperable<\/strong> and <strong>re-usable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the data management plan you plan and describe how research data is collected, used, stored and archived and opened for further use, taking into account e.g. data protection, information security and ownership. It is also a tool for the researcher.
