Sending sensitive information in a regular email is not allowed, as plain email does not provide reliable protection for message content. At Jamk, Microsoft Purview Message Encryption is used to secure emails. It ensures that only the intended recipient can decrypt and read the message and its attachments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sending encrypt message from Jamk email<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions for staff<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To send an encrypted email from your Jamk email account, staff members must use an data classification label that includes email encryption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a general rule, <strong>emails sent within Jamk do not need to be encrypted<\/strong>. Therefore, always choose the appropriate classification label according to the sensitivity of the information in the message. The data labels listed below automatically apply Microsoft Purview Message Encryption, so no additional encryption or other protection mechanism is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Secret (1R) <\/strong>\u2013 Recipients can only be internal Jamk addresses. Forwarding, printing, and copying are also restricted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Confidential \u2013 Restricted (2A) <\/strong>\u2013 Recipients can be either internal or external.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jamkstudent.sharepoint.com\/sites\/Tietosuoja-ja-tietoturva-Elmo\/SitePages\/en\/Tiedonluokittelu.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">More information about data classification can be found from Elmo-Intra (Logging required)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions for students<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students cannot use data classification labels that automatically enable email encryption. Instead, you must use another email address, such as a personal email account. It is also possible to include attachments with the message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Receiving the encrypt email<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If an encrypted message has been sent using Microsoft Purview Message Encryption (with data classification label), the recipient can decrypt and read the message directly from Outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the recipient uses an email client other than Outlook, or if the message has been encrypted using Deltagon or any other encryption method, the recipient will only receive instructions and a link to open the actual message.
