The bachelor\u2019s thesis must be related to the student\u2019s degree programme and personal learning plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In bachelor&#8217;s studies, the thesis is a specialist assignment that is normally carried out in cooperation with working life. The thesis topic idea and the assignment must arise from the needs of working life, and it is primarily done as an assignment from working life or a project. You can find the thesis topic from your practical training placement or another professional connection. If needed, discuss the selection of the topic with the teachers of your field of education. <strong>Complete the course Research and Development (5 credits) \u2013 ZZ00CK89 before starting your thesis. The course provides you with the knowledge and skills needed for your thesis and also supports you in choosing the topic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The thesis can be<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a working life based specialist assignment, project or production related to your practical specialisation field <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a working life based literature review.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The thesis can also be integrated with practical training. The thesis can also be done in the form of a pair or small group assignment, or in a multidisciplinary fashion between students from one or several degree programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The length of a bachelor\u2019s thesis is 25 to 50 pages on average, excluding appendices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In the bachelor&#8217;s thesis, the student<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>develops and demonstrates capabilities to apply their knowledge and skills in a research and development assignment related to professional studies that arises from the needs of working life;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>learns to create a knowledge base that is based on sources and to report the results;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>learns to assess the results and present development proposals;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is also able to assume responsibility for the group\u2019s learning and sharing of the lessons learned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The scope of the bachelor&#8217;s thesis is 15 ECTS credits, and the thesis project consists of the following courses:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Thesis, Planning (3 cr) \u2013 ZZ00BL91<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Thesis, Thesis Writing (2 cr) \u2013 ZZ00BL97 (A course offered by the Language Centre that is part of the thesis. Remember to enrol in Peppi!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Thesis, Implementation (6 cr) \u2013 ZZ00BL92<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Thesis, Reporting and Assessment (4 cr) \u2013 ZZ00BL93<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maturity Test, Bachelor\u2019s Degree (0 cr) \u2013 ZZOA0220<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Progress of the Bachelor&#8217;s Thesis Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All theses are done and projected in Wihi (wihi.jamk.fi). You create a schedule in Wihi, communicate with your supervisor, and submit draft versions of your work for feedback. The thesis is also assessed in Wihi. This concerns students starting their studies in the autumn 2021 and before.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare a thesis topic proposal for Wihi: wihi.jamk.fi and submit it for approval. In Wihi, the phase names are: Project plan, Phase 1: One third of thesis completed, Phase 2: Two thirds of thesis completed and Phase 3: Thesis ready for assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Agree on the first guidance meeting with your principal thesis tutor in accordance with the rules for your degree programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NB: throughout the thesis process, use Wihi&#8217;s comments field, not e-mail, for communicating with the principal thesis tutor. Wait for permission from the thesis tutor!<\/li>\n<li>Upload the thesis permanent link to Wihi.\n<ul>\n<li>After this, the tutor approves the thesis assessment phase in Wihi.
