In an online meeting, students can collaborate in small groups known as Breakout Rooms. The teacher can create the Breakout Rooms using the following steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Teacher creates the Breakout Rooms.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Click the Breakout Rooms button on the Zoom toolbar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Choose the number of rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Decide whether the application should automatically assign students to rooms, manually assign them one by one, or allow students to choose rooms themselves. Detailed information on manual assignment and self-selection is provided below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click Create<\/strong>. Zoom generates the rooms, and if you chose the automatic option, you can see which rooms students have been added to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. You can rename the rooms by hovering your mouse over the room name and selecting Rename<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Adjust Breakout Room settings by clicking Options<\/strong>. For instance, you can set up automatic transfer of students to rooms when group work starts without requiring them to accept a room invitation. You can also define the duration after which Breakout Rooms will close automatically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Depending on which option you chose, after you click the Open All Rooms<\/strong> button, students see a notification which they need to click to join a Breakout room, they are added to the rooms automatically, or they will see the Join Breakout Room <\/strong>button and they can choose which room to join.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Assigning the students to the Breakout Rooms manually.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. Choose manual assignment and specify the number of rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Click Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click the Assign<\/strong> button next to the Breakout Room and select the students you want to add to that room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Once you have assigned students to the rooms and are ready to start group work, click Open All Rooms<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Depending on your choices, students will receive an invitation to join a room or will be automatically transferred to the room.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      3. Participants can choose Breakout Room.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. This option is used when students have, for example, worked in groups before or when specific themed room options are offered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Choose Let participants choose room<\/strong> and specify the number of rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Click Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Hover your mouse over a room name, click Rename<\/strong>, and name the rooms according to themes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Click Open All Rooms<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. Students will see the Breakout Rooms button and can join the room of their choice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        4. Students work in Breakout Rooms.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        1. When the students are in Breakout Rooms, they can only see the participants in their own room and hear the speech of their group members. They can discuss, share screen, and use the Breakout Room chat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. The teacher can communicate with Breakout Rooms during the session and notify them of, for example, the remaining working time, by clicking Broadcast<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. Text messages sent by the teacher appear at the top of the Breakout Room for a few seconds. The teacher can also broadcast audio messages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        4. The teacher can join Breakout Rooms by clicking the Join<\/strong> button next to the group name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        5. Latecomers can be added to Breakout Rooms by clicking the Assign<\/strong> button next to the student’s name in the Breakout Rooms view.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        6. Students can request the teacher to join a Breakout Room by clicking the Ask for Help<\/strong> button. The teacher receives a message and can join the specific Breakout Room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        7. Clicking the Close All Rooms<\/strong> button shuts down the Breakout Rooms. By default, rooms close one minute after clicking the button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        8. The same Breakout Rooms and group arrangements can be reused during the same meeting. New rooms and group arrangements can be created by clicking the Recreate<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
