Regulations

The terms of usage of the Jamk University of Applied Sciences (Jamk) Help website have been updated on 22.11.2023.

The following rules of use apply to the materials maintained on the Jamk Help website. The producer of the materials agrees to comply with them when ordering the site materials. The parties agree that situations that have not been taken into account when preparing the rules of use will be resolved in cooperation.

The purpose of the Help website

The website serves as a publishing platform for the system and service instructions produced by Jamk.

Jamk network rules of usage, legislation and netiquette

The websites maintained on the Jamk’s server are subject to the Jamk network usage rules.

Same law applies on Help websites as elsewhere in society.

Netiquette is an informal guideline that emphasizes politeness and adherence to established practices in network operations. You can learn more about netiquette in the Finnish Internet Guide.

Jamk’s ethical principles

Jamk’s ethical regulations and principles guides behavior in social media alongside values (responsibility, trust, creativity).

Copyright

In Finland, works have a protection period lasting for the author’s lifetime and 70 years after his death. During this time, the work may not be used without permission. Copyrights also include another owner’s rights, which protect the work of performing artists. The protection period for another owner’s rights is 50 years. Protection means, for example, that an artistic performance (literary, musical artistic etc …) may not be recorded without the artist’s permission.

The same laws apply to the Help website as elsewhere in society. The fact that text or image is easy to copy, process and publish again is not a defense to breaking the law. Copyright is valid even if, for example, a www page does not have a special copyright notice.

For more information on copyrights, see e.g. Copyright ABC.

Accessibility

Accessibility means that websites and mobile applications and its content are such that anyone can use them with different devices or aids and understand what they say. Accessibility is therefore the accessibility of the web world.

The Help website must comply with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines A and AA level criteria. The website is constantly developed by the administration to make it more accessible. Accessibility is monitored and measured using automated tools. In addition, it is especially important to take into account the responsibility of each content producer for making the content of the website as accessible as possible.

Limitations of liability

Jamk is not responsible for the accuracy of the information published on the website or for any direct or indirect damages caused by possible errors and deficiencies in the content. Jamk also does not take responsibility for the materials produced by external parties to which a link has been made from the Help website. Jamk is also not responsible for any damages caused by network outages or other technical disruptions. The Help website administration has the right to remove inappropriate text, image, other material or comment and close the website.

Jamk has the right as a service provider to change, specify and update the rules of use. Changes to the rules of use that are significant in meaning are approved separately by the users. Otherwise, the user agrees to comply with the rules in force at any given time.

Observations of material that violates Finnish law or good practice are requested to be reported to the helpdesk as a service request, see the top right corner of the page.
