Move files from your H home directory to OneDrive
Personal network drives, or H drives, will be decommissioned on 31.5.2025. Make sure to save your files well in advance of the change.
Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences is transitioning from traditional home directories (H-drive) to the more modern OneDrive. The aim of this change is to enhance security, accessibility, and file sharing. OneDrive offers more versatile features than home directories, such as comprehensive version control and the ability to access files on different devices through cloud synchronization
What should I do?
Transfer all necessary files from the H-drive to OneDrive as soon as possible. No special tools are required for the transfer; it can be easily done using the cut-and-paste method. Starting from May 1, 2025, the H-drive will be changed to read-only mode, after which no new files can be created, nor can old files be modified. The H-drive will be permanently decommissioned on May 31, 2025, so data transfer should be completed well in advance. This change does not currently affect the shared M-drive
On Windows 11 PCs, the OneDrive client comes pre-installed, so there’s no need for any additional installation. On Windows 11 staff workstations, OneDrive sync is also automatically turned on. OneDrive also works in a browser at m365.jamk.fi.
If you still have an old Windows 10 workstation maintained by Jamk’s, contact Helpdesk as soon as possible. Windows 10 workstations should be upgraded to a newer operating system version before the beginning of May! Make an appointment to update Windows through a service request.
