Jamk will be transitioning from traditional home directories (H-drive) to a more modern OneDrive
Jamk is making changes to file storage practices to better meet today’s needs and security requirements. As part of this change, home directories will be moved to the OneDrive service, meaning the traditional home directories (visible as the H-drive) will be discontinued.
Important Dates:
- After December 31, 2024, new home directories will no longer be created.
- On May 31, 2025, old home directories will be decommissioned.
Why are we moving to OneDrive?
OneDrive is part of the M365 service suite and it offers more versatility, security, and accessibility compared to the old home directories. OneDrive provides the following advantages:
- Improved security and backup options
- Better accessibility (OneDrive, like other M365 services, can be accessed on different devices and locations)
- Easier and more versatile file sharing
- Version control allows you to review/restore previous versions of files independently
- OneDrive can be accessed via a browser or a dedicated application (not just on computers but also on mobile devices)
- Files synced to your computer via the OneDrive application can be accessed offline if needed
Be sure to transfer all your important files from the H-drive to OneDrive well before the deadlines. If you have any questions or need assistance with file transfers, please send a service request to ICT-support.
