Checklist for implementations (Peppi)

Checklist for the assessment of a course implementation description

You can use the checklist either for assessing your implementation or ask your colleague to assess it.

First, create an implementation in accordance with the instructions in Peppi. Review your implementation in the student view either via the study search or on the Curricula page.

Clarity and comprehensibility

  1. The language is clear and straightforward without complex sentence structures.
  2. The description is not missing essential or critical information from the perspective of studying.

Consistency of content

  1. The described methods, contents, materials and use of time match the intended learning outcomes of the course.
  2. Information on any prerequisites is mentioned with the course.

Information provided for study practices

  1. It is mentioned that attendees will be checked three weeks after the start of the implementation. It is explained what the student’s activity should involve during that period. (Does not apply to nonstops.)
  2. Using artificial intelligence. How is it allowed in this implementation?
  3. The study method is described (what kind of studies the implementation involves, e.g. webinars, group assignments, etc.). If the implementation involves webinars, say: “To participate in webinars, you need a working camera, headphones and microphone.”
  4. If the virtual part is other than 0 credits, does the description mention what online teaching includes?
  5. It is described how the student receives guidance (Teaching methods field).
  6. The place of study is mentioned. For example, contact teaching on the main campus, contact teaching online, exercises in the laboratory or exercises in the simulation facility.
  7. The required materials or other study resources required for the implementation are described in accordance with Jamk’s reporting instructions.
  8. Alternative methods of completion are explained, such as studification. Also mention if there are no alternative methods of completion.
  9. Connections with business and industry are mentioned.
  10. The ‘Exams and retake possibilities’ field has to indicate whether or not there is an exam.
  11. The timing of the content is described. What happens during which week (rhythm, timing, weekly assignments, mandatory elements of the implementation)?
  12. The timetable and use of time are described realistically (1 credit = 27 hours). The scope of the implementation has been checked with the Moodle credit calculator.
  13. The description includes instructions or tips for studying in the implementation (e.g. scheduling tip, such as “Reserve about 4–6 hours per week for this course”).
  14. The evaluation methods are described in the ‘Further information for students’ field. Is the selected pedagogical method appropriate for evaluation? Is enhancement-led and continuous evaluation apparent in the implementation description?
