WordPress admin panel

From the control view, you can see the contents and settings of the site. You can access the control view either by clicking the ‘My Sites’ button on the top toolbar and selecting the site which control panel you want to access. Or by clicking on the site name to the right of the ‘My Sites’ button, where you are currently.

After logging in, the view may be slightly different with different credentials (different permissions). The more limited the rights, the fewer features there is to choose from in the menu. Most important menu items are:

  • Pages
    • Add, Delete and Edit pages
  • Articles
    • Articles are used only for news. Do not use!
  • Media
    • All pictures and other media are saved and available from media library
  • Appearance->Menus
  • Site settings
    • Editing header, footer and 404 page)
  • Languages
    • Editing and translating button texts and fixed texts (so-called string translations)
  • Broken links

At the top of the page, you can choose the language version you want to view. This way, all the control panel menus only give the contents on that language. Note that you should be careful not to add or edit content in the wrong language version.

You can change the administration language from the profile settings. It is by default “Site default”, which uses the site language.
