Office-applications

Jamk offers Microsoft 365 services to students and staff, allowing them to install M365 applications on their personal computers and other devices for free. The free Office package is called Microsoft 365 apps and includes the following Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher, and OneNote. The license allows installation on up to five devices (PC/Mac) or mobile devices and is valid for the duration of your studies or employment.

System requirements

Windows Computers (PC)

Windows 10 / 11
- Windows 10 security updates will end in October 2025. Jamk do not recommend using it after that
Processor: At least 2 Ghz speed
Memory 4 GB RAM
Storage: At least 4 GB of free space

Apple computers

One of the three latest MacOS versions
Note that the M365 applications interface may have exceptions and limitations in the MacOS environment

Chromebook devices (Not supported)

The Android or Windows versions of Office, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive are not currently supported on Chromebooks.
You can only use Microsoft 365 applications via the browser at m365.jamk.fi.

M365 applications can't be installed as an app on Chromebook devices! M365 apps are only available via browser m365.jamk.fi

Installing M365 applications

Log in to Microsoft 365 using your Jamk account (m365.jamk.fi)
Click “Install and more” and “Install Microsoft 365 apps”
- Select from “Apps and Devices” your preferred language and select “Install Office”
Locate the file you just downloaded on your hard drive and open it
Follow instructions to complete setup. Setup process is almost automatic
Start one of Office applications and activate them by your Jamk account when asked
- Use this form:
  - Staff: firstname.lastname@jamk.fi
  - Students: username@student.jamk.fi

On some cases Office on MacOS environment might need a separate sign in to activate Office-license. You can activate license on Home-tab of any Office app or from the error message that asks you to sign in with another account. Use Jamk's account to sign in again to activate Office-license

Mobile device (iOS and Android)

Open your device’s AppStore / Play -store
Search for “Microsoft 365 (Office)” at the Store and install it
- You can also install individually only apps that you need. Search with apps name “Microsoft Word”, “Microsoft Excel”, “OneDrive” etc.
Start the app and activate it using your own account when asked.
