Issuing a Badge

Once you have received designer or issuer rights for the Open Badge Factory service, you will get a link via email. The service’s top bar will display menus according to your rights. To issue a badge, go to the Issuer Tools section (the Issue Badge part opens automatically) and follow these steps:

  1. Select the Badge: Click on the badge you want to issue. The badge preview shows the basic information and criteria.
  2. Set Badge Details: You can change the issuance date and set an expiration date. An expiration date is usually not necessary, but if the badge represents a skill that should be updated regularly, you can set one.
  3. Select Recipients: Add the recipients’ email addresses in the field.
  4. Edit Message: You can modify the original email message template if needed.
  5. Confirm and Issue: Edit the issuance name by adding the badge name followed by the date or issuance number. This helps differentiate issuance reports. Finally, click the Issue Badge button at the bottom of the page.
