Managing your files

OneDrive

OneDrive for Business is a service for storing and sharing your files, which you can access on your computer via a browser or desktop application. For your mobile device, you can get the OneDrive app from the app store.

Using the OneDrive desktop app makes it easier to manage your file on your own computer. Files are stored and accessed in Windows through the Resource Manager, just like any other file. If you have installed the Office package provided by Jamk for students on your computer, the OneDrive desktop application is installed with the package. We recommend installing the Office package to streamline your learning.

Using files in Office Online versions

The online version means that you do not need to have Office software installed on the device you are using to access the file. The files will then open in your browser. Please note that Online versions are more limited in functionality than desktop applications. When using the Office applications through the browser, there is no Save button, as the new file is automatically saved to OneDrive. You can rename your file by clicking on the file name at the top of the window (the default name is “Document”) or by selecting Save as > Rename.

Sharing large files in the Funet FileSender service

Funet FileSender is a browser-based online service that is intended for sharing files that file size is large. Funet FileSender facilitates the sharing of large files of even several gigabytes in size. The service is not intended for the long-time storage of files, so the files will be automatically deleted after the expiry of the deadline.
