Acquisition, use and production of knowledge
When you are completing learning assignments for different courses and writing your thesis towards the end of your studies, information retrieval and an assessment of the quality of the source material are essential study skills. Jamk’s library provides you with information seeking guidance both for the early stages of your studies and for the completion of your thesis. You can reserve a personal instruction session or make use of the information retrieval guides that are available on the library website.
When you run searches on the library databases or use search engines such as Google Scholar for finding scientific sources, you will learn to recognise high-quality sources in your field of study. Databases allow you to limit your search to peer-reviewed or scientific sources. When you find a good source, it is advisable to run searches with the name of the author of that source and to view its list of references, as this may lead you to materials published by other experts in the subject matter.
