Constraints

How do you get a good start in course development? How do you plant ideas and make them flourish? This is where the work begins, and this framework is good for reflecting on planning and production throughout the joint journey.

Examples of constraints include:

  • Target groups
  • Implementation method
  • Lifecycle of the course and implementation
  • Estimated number of students
  • Available time, money, and expertise
  • Jamk’s digital learning environment is Moodle.

Purpose

Constraints affect all future choices in course planning and construction. Shake and test your thoughts on learner-centeredness and learner understanding. Gather different perspectives and insights.

Key success factors

  • Keep in mind the implementation method, allocated hours, and estimated number of students.
  • Visualize the big picture and clarify development goals.
  • Identify suitable co-creators for your situation.
  • Collect materials related to the implementation easily accessible for yourself and co-creators.
  • Ask and confirm, don’t assume.

Materials, tools, methods, and instructions

For pedagogical planning:

  • Curriculum and course description
  • From the content of the Learning Design course, the Pedagogical Scriptwriting part:

    • Identify individual learners
    • Course feedback from the previous implementation
    • Quality criteria
    • Digital pedagogy quality criteria from the Opin.fi service
    • Quality criteria for online implementations (eAMK)
    • Digital pedagogical layer: Recognize Moodle’s possibilities and limitations.
