Jamk University of Applied Sciences’ EXAM system accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the EXAM system, and it was created on 25 June 2020.

Accessibility means that as many people as possible can use digital services easily and equally. An accessible service must be technically accessible, have a clear user interface and the content must be understandable. The accessibility requirements are based on the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, which is in turn based on the EU Accessibility Directive.

The accessibility of the EXAM system was assessed internally. We are continuously evaluating accessibility during development of the EXAM system.

Accessibility of the digital service

The EXAM system meets the accessibility requirements partly.

During development of the EXAM service, we are committed to improving the accessibility of the digital service and meeting the A and AA level criteria of WCAG 2.1 contained in the Act on the Provision of Digital Services. The observed accessibility deficiencies will be corrected in conjunction with future EXAM version updates whenever possible. In particular, the upgrade of the application framework to Angular7 will improve accessibility (planned for 2021).

Perceivable: The colour contrast between text and background is insufficient.

Perceivable: The highlighting that visualizes button status is insufficient.

Non-accessible content and its deficiencies: When navigating with the keyboard, the focus of the selected function is not sufficiently distinguishable. The visual information needed to identify the different statuses of the buttons is insufficient. The contrast between border colour and highlighting is too faint.

Perceivable: Heading is missing and boldface has been used for highlighting.

Operable: There is no mechanism available to bypass blocks of content that are repeated on many web pages.

Operable: Not all website functions can be used via the keyboard.

Non-accessible content and its deficiencies: Not all website functions can be used via the keyboard. For example, the keyboard cannot be used to select a role (student/examiner) after logging in or to select an attachment when taking an exam. The keyboard cannot be used to reserve an examiner via the calendar; this problem will be eliminated by the future upgrade.

Operable: Focus is not highlighted sufficiently.

If you notice accessibility problems on the service, you should first send any feedback to us, the administrator. We will normally send you an answer within 14 days of receiving the feedback.
