Rules of Usage and Privacy Statements

The student undertakes to abide The Jamk EXAM Application Rules of Usage when using EXAM. The student is required to accept the Rules of Usage when logging into EXAM-application for the first time.

The use of EXAM is governed by the Degree Regulations of Jamk University of Applied Sciences concerning completion of courses, assessment and disciplinary procedure (18 §, 21 §, 40 §).

Right to take exams in EXAM

Only students who have enrolled as attending and have the study entitlement necessary for taking any exams may take exams using the EXAM-application, provided that this has been agreed upon with the teacher of the course concerned.

Proof of identity

Anyone taking an exam using the EXAM-application is required to show proof of identity to the member of the Jamk staff supervising the exam when requested to do so, and also required to prove his/her identity in the indicated manner requested.

When taking an exam in Turbiini K205 Examstudio, please put your ID on your table into the spot indicated for it.

Taking personal belongings to the Examstudio

Personal belongings, such as bags/backpacks, mobile devices, all kinds of watches, outerwear, calculators and regular medication as well as food and beverages must not be brought to the Examstudio. Calculators and regular medication may only be brought in the case that this has been agreed upon in advance with the teacher. You can bring a mobility aid (wheelchair, elbows or crutches) to Examstudio without a separate agreement with your teacher.

Examinees may leave their belongings in the lockers provided outside the exam room. In Turbiini building, the lockers are located in the hallway. The lockers may only be used by those using the Examstudio for the duration of the exam. The student undertakes to immediately empty the locker upon completion of the exam.

Exiting Examstudio

The student is not allowed to exit and return to the Examstudio at the middle of an exam. If exiting the exam is necessary, for example for health-related reasons, this must be separately agreed upon in advance with the teacher. The exam may be rejected if the student has exited and returned back to the exam without a prior agreement with the teacher.

When the exam has been returned, the student must immediately exit the exam computer and the Examstudio. The exam workstation must be tidied up for the next user, and any scribbling papers used must be left in the locked waste bin in the Examstudio.

You may exit the exam as soon as you are done. However, you must exit the exam during the last five minutes of the exam time.

Video surveillance

The exams taken using the EXAM-application are monitored using a recording video surveillance system (audio is also recorded). When you book an exam from the Examstudio, you consent to being monitored by the video surveillance system. Likewise, you consent that the video recording data and the EXAM-application data may be connected for the purpose of verifying your identity.

Re-registering for an exam taken

You may only re-register for an exam taken using the EXAM-application after the teacher concerned has assessed the previous exam. The time limits for assessing the exam and/or course are set out in the Degree Regulations (21§).

Entrance to the Examstudio

The lock of the Examstudio door opens 25 minutes past the hour and remains open for the next 15 minutes.

An exam that will be taken in EXAM-application always begins 30 minutes past the hour. The examinee is advised to reserve the last five minutes of the exam time for returning the exam and for exiting the exam computer, as the next examinee may already be waiting for his/her turn at the same exam computer. The duration of the exam is one of the following:

  • 60 min (1 x 60 min = 1 classroom hour, of which 55 min is reserved for taking the exam and 5 min for returning the exam and exiting the computer)
  • 90 min (2 x 45 min = 2 classroom hour, of which 85 min is reserved for taking the exam and 5 min for returning the exam and exiting the computer)
  • 135 min (3 x 45 min = 3 classroom hour, of which 130 min is reserved for taking the exam and 5 min for returning the exam and exiting the computer)
  • 240 min (4 x 60 min = 4 classroom hour, of which 235 min is reserved for taking the exam and 5 min for returning the exam and exiting the computer)

NB! Any single violation of the Jamk EXAM Rules of Usage may lead to rejection of the student’s examination.

Any exam taken using the EXAM-application is subject to the Jamk IT systems usage rules and Jamk rules and regulations.
