General information on presenting in classrooms
The presentation technology has been upgraded across Jamk’s campuses, so the technology in the facilities can sometimes feel a bit disparate with different equipment. Efforts are being made to simplify the presentation technology as the computers in classrooms are phased out. Computers in classrooms will remain in auditoriums, computer labs and blended teaching classrooms.
Basic classrooms will have only a projector and active speakers. The image is transmitted to the projector from a personal laptop via a display port. Sound is also transmitted through the same port from the projector to the active speakers and the sound level can be adjusted either by remote control on the projector or by the sound settings on the computer operating system. In these rooms, therefore, only one cable is available for presentation.
Auditoriums, meeting rooms and multi-purpose classrooms will continue to use wired AV systems, so there may be multiple devices and connections. In such cases, the system is switched on from a control panel, which also controls the video, sound and in some cases lighting. Jamk has portable TV trolleys in several rooms, which can be connected to the video in the same way as projectors, i.e. via a laptop’s display port.
You can see the booking status of classrooms in the calendar of the Peppi system. You can book meeting rooms via the Outlook calendar. If you notice any shortcomings or faults in the presentation technologies in the rooms, please make a service request to the campus ICT support.
Remember to switch off the projector after use. This will save projectors and their lamps.
