4.1 The First Part of the Thesis
The first part of the thesis is for the benefit of the reader, and prepares him/her to consume the contents presented in the thesis.
The first part of the thesis includes
- a cover page,
- a description page,
- a table of contents,
- a list of figures, and
- a list of tables.
Additionally, when called for, there may also be
- an index of abbreviations, and
- a glossary.
The proper place for these is on a separate page(s) between the table of contents and the first chapter of the text.
Cover page and description page templates are available through the Thesis Templates section of this guide, which is maintained separately by Jamk’s Thesis Committee.
