4.1 The First Part of the Thesis
The first part of the thesis is for the benefit of the reader, and prepares him/her to consume the contents presented in the thesis.
The first part of the thesis includes
- a cover page,
- a description page,
- a table of contents,
- a list of figures, and
- a list of tables.
Additionally, when called for, there may also be
- an index of abbreviations, and
- a glossary.
The proper place for these is on a separate page(s) between the table of contents and the first chapter of the text.
