  • Go through the pre-examination feedback you received. Review the evaluation criteria.
  • Revise your work according to the feedback.
  • Write the description page (Abstract). In the degree programmes that are taught in Finnish, the students write the description page in both Finnish and English.
Finnish students in English-language degree programmes write the description page in both English and Finnish.
Other students write the description page only in English.

Prepare carefully for the oral presentation

Prepare carefully for the oral presentation of your thesis. The time reserved for the presentation is about 15–20 minutes, followed by about 10 minutes for discussion, comments and questions.

Prepare a concise presentation that you can supplement with illustrative material. Learn in advance how to use technical devices.

As a presenter, you activate your listeners by, for example, asking questions, giving examples, or asking for comments. As a presenter, you address the audience. Be prepared to answer questions. The structure of your presentation can be for example:

  • an interesting start
  • a structured and well-chosen main content
  • a closing (conclusions or summary)

Thesis self-assessment means critical reflection of your own learning. It allows you to reflect upon yourself as a learner, while evaluating the objectives you have set for the thesis, their attainment and potential areas for development.
Use the self-assessment form (see below).

If you have written the thesis with a pair, both of you make separate self-assessment with personal reflection. Before returning the self-assessment to Wihi, combine the files to a single pdf.

Return

Return the self-assessment to Wihi Files -section at the same time when you return your actual thesis for evaluation.  Make sure that it is in PDF format and a single file (see figure).

If your thesis has a commissioner (client), ask them for written feedback on your finished work.
In their statement, the commissioner or client should assess the achievement of the objectives set for the thesis, the usability of the results and potential areas for development.

Submit

Send your thesis for comments and the commissioner’s statement form (below) to the client by e-mail or by using the Send for external comments -button in Wihi. The client can also return the signed commissioner’s statement to Wihi using the same function. This should be done before you return your actual thesis for evaluation.
