Accreditation of studies – over 30 ECTS credits
Language and communication studies are accredited according to the instructions of the Language Centre. You can find a link to the instructions at the bottom of this page.
If you have previously completed over 30 ECTS credits of studies included in your degree, have a guidance discussion with your study counsellor or the head of the degree programme (depending on the field).
Create a table of your prior studies in Excel, for example, and place them in their correct places in the Jamk degree structure. The Excel file must indicate which parts of prior studies are accredited for a degree completed at Jamk and to what extent as well as which courses referred to in the Jamk curriculum will be excluded from the your PLP. Accreditation is always done by inclusion.
After the guidance discussion, submit an accreditation application in Peppi (prior studies, inclusion). Mark them as first-year studies, for example.
Fill in the guidance discussion details (see the separate instructions).
Fill in the Place of performance details (Figure 1).
Place of performance details
If you have completed studies in several different higher education institutions and apply for accreditation for these studies, you must separately add each place of performance to the application. This ensures that all studies can be processed appropriately and placed in their correct places in the PLP.
- Start filling out the application from the section Places of performance.
- Click Add place of performance.
- In the Place of performance window, enter where you have completed the studies for which you are applying accreditation.
- Select “Educational institution” as the type.
- Select the type of institution where you completed your studies as the type of place of performance.
- Usually, you would select either universities of applied sciences or universities here.
- Select the correct educational institution as the place of performance.
- In the Name of the study field, enter “first-year studies”, for example.

- In the competences acquired compared to the competence goals field, you may provide more detailed information on the prior learning you have acquired.
- Attach a transcript of records issued by your previous educational institution that indicates the studies you have completed. Also add the Excel file you filled in with the head of the degree programme or a study counsellor as an attachment.
