Responsible units and educational fields (study unit)

You can view the responsible units and educational fields that relate to the time periods inherited to or defined for the study unit. By default, the responsible units and educational fields are inherited from the parent element, but they can also be defined separately for each study unit where necessary. Responsible units are not defined for Jamk’s common study units or elective studies. These will be specified later in connection with the implementation.

1. Select Responsible units and educational fields from the study unit’s tab menu. The system lists the time periods concerning the study unit complete with the responsible units and educational fields. If the top part of the window displays the button pair Use inherited information and Edit responsible units and educational fields, you can choose whether to use the definitions inherited from the parent element or the study unit specific definitions.

The buttons are only shown if the study units have been linked to a curriculum or separate study module, the responsible units and educational fields of which have been inherited to the study unit. If no definitions have been inherited, the system will list study unit specific time periods.

2. If you want to apply study unit specific definitions instead of inherited definitions, click the Edit responsible units and educational fields button.
The button is greyed out and the system notifies that the inheriting has been changed and lists the time periods defined for the study unit complete with the responsible units and educational fields. You can then add or edit the time periods separately for each study unit.

3. Add a new time period or edit an existing time period: To add a new time period, click Add new interval.
The system displays the Add new interval pop-up window in which you can define the time period complete with the responsible units and educational fields. To edit an existing time period, click the Edit button on the respective date range.

4. Select the end and start date of the time period from the calendar and add the information concerning the responsible units and educational fields.

5. Click a unit, cost centre or educational field selection field and select the desired option from the drop-down menu. Always select an organisation unit as the unit, e.g. School of Business.

6. To define multiple units or educational fields, click Add row.

7. In each row, specify the percentage of the curriculum the unit concerned is responsible for in the text field. The system will display a warning if the sum of the percentages you entered is less or greater than 100%. If you tick the Divide equally checkbox, the system will divide the curriculum evenly between all the units or educational fields.

8. When you have entered the information, click Save. The system saves the information and closes the Add new interval pop-up window.
