Inclusion – over 30 ECTS credits

If the student has previously completed over 30 ECTS credits of studies included in their degree, they must have a guidance discussion with their study counsellor or the head of the degree programme (depending on the field).

Create a table of the student’s prior studies in Excel, for example, and place them in their correct places in the Jamk degree structure. The Excel file must indicate which parts of prior studies are accredited for a degree completed at Jamk and to what extent as well as which courses referred to in the Jamk curriculum will be excluded from the student’s PLP. Accreditation is always done by inclusion.

Language and communication studies are accredited according to the instructions of the Language Centre (Elmo intra).

After this, the student submits an accreditation application in Peppi. A transcript of records issued by the previous educational institution must be attached to the application in Finnish and English, and it must indicate the completed studies. The second attachment should be the Excel file created with the head of the degree programme or study counsellor.

The student’s application may look like this, for example (Figure 1).

The student's accreditation application, in which they apply for the recognition of previously completed studies (55 ECTS credits).

Note. The student will not enter the studies on the application. Instead, they can be found in the Excel file.

!

Check that the table attached by the student to the application complies with the agreement and has not been modified by the student after the guidance discussion. Also check that the type of the application is inclusion.

The head of the degree programme processes the application in Peppi

You must now mark the application as approved as follows.

Now, click the START HERE: Go directly to decision-making button in the application.

  • Select “Approve completely” as the decision.
  • Write a message to the student.
  • Mark the approved ECTS credits.
  • Enter H in the Grade section.
  • As the registrar, select the student services person who records larger modules included in your degree programme in Peppi. This way, the application is transferred to student services for recording as such.
  • If you wish, you can write a message to the registrar, i.e., student services.
  • Click Save.

Choosing the application keywords

In the ‘Hakemuksen asiasanat‘ window, select the keywords that best describe the competence in the application. Note: The window is only in Finnish. You can select more than one keyword. You can also filter the keyword list by first typing your field of study in the ‘Ohjauksen ala’ field to see only the keywords related to your field. Note: In this case, you cannot find so-called general keywords. Keywords gather applications in an accreditation bank, where you can search for accreditations already made using keywords.

Click ‘Tallenna asiasanat ja päätös’.

After this, student services will record the courses to be included in the student’s study attainments according to the Excel file attached to the application.

!

If the application has been filled in incorrectly or the attached Excel file is incomplete, student services will return the application to the head of the degree programme. The head of the degree programme can attach the correct file to the application from the Attach files section.

Processing of the application in student services

The head of the degree programme has marked the application as approved and sent it to student services for recording.

If the application has been filled in incorrectly or the attached Excel file is incomplete, student services may return the application to the head of the degree programme. Write instructions for the head of the degree programme when returning the files.

  • Record each course to be included in the student’s PLP according to the Excel file attached to the application.
  • Extra courses are removed from the PLP based on accreditations.
  • Finally, mark the application as processed by clicking Mark as handled (Figure 2).
  • Study attainments will not be transferred from the application to Peppi.
