Separate study modules
Separate study modules can be used for describing e.g. a part of a degree that relates to several degree structures (e.g. language and communications studies) or non-degree education offerings. Separate study modules can also be used to collect studies for all Jamk students, such as elective studies, summer studies or studies for exchange students.
A separate study module has the same features as the structure of a curriculum; it may have several study modules and study units associated with it. The separate study module associated with the curriculum structure cannot be edited from the structure concerned. Instead, its data can only be edited in the place where it was created.
Elective studies and separate study modules
Jamk outlined that the so-called elective studies can only be offered separately in cases in which the studies are also simultaneously on offer outside Jamk, such as through the Open University of Applied Sciences, CampusOnline or EduFutura. The goal is to make the degrees more economical for Jamk.
If, for the reasons above, elective studies are offered in a field to the extent that they cannot be included in the structure of a degree programme, a separate study module will be created.

Adding a syllabus for a separate study module
A syllabus can be added for a separate study module. There can be one or more syllabuses, as with a curriculum. The syllabus type is “simple timing”. When adding separate study module to a curriculum, the information from separate study module’s default syllabus is transferred to the curriculum’s syllabus. After adding, these syllabuses are separate. It means that editing the syllabus in EOK does not affect the syllabus in the curricula and vice versa.
Separate study modules and year planning
Implementation of a separate study module can be carried out through year planning. Refer to the instructions for year planning.
